Meet Renae
The “Why” is the key to lifestyle change and long term commitment. Let’s find out your “why”! Write it down. Reflect on it. Live it. Love it. Your “why” will help you make successful choices in the future, whether in the realm of health and fitness or in everyday life.
I was a dancer for over a decade. Ballet, jazz, hip-hip, modern, lyrical, dance team…you name it, I probably did it. I also dabbled in sports throughout my childhood and jr. high, but not as much. Upon moving into my college years I found myself no longer participating in dance or sports, or really being active at all. Although I was highly active previously, I knew nothing about fitness or how the body truly worked, so I had no idea of how to even BE active on my own. Sure I had a gym membership, but I had no idea what to do in there (or even where to begin), so ultimately I rarely used it. And let’s face it- weights can be INTIMIDATING. If I had even just a basic knowledge of exercise beyond dance- I can only imagine how my activity level would have increased back then.
I was slowly losing my passion for movement, and I didn’t know what to do. After a few years of pursuing my creative dreams in fine arts photography, I found my way into a desk position at a local group fitness studio. Something was calling me there, and quickly I learned what I really wanted to do: help others create long lasting change by building their inner and “outer” strength through creative strength and movement programs. It wasn’t until I started on my Personal Training journey that I really learned the “whys”, “hows”, and “in-&-outs” of fitness. I dove straight in to absorb all I could, and still continue learning as the years go on.
Exercise and healthy eating habits have given me more energy, less stress, allowed for better sleep, and really taught me that health & fitness is important for LIFE! Bringing activity back, brought my life back to me. Things I learned along my journey:
Time will ALWAYS be an excuse. You have to make it happen.
Finding motivation can be HARD. (We all have “off” days- but having the knowledge to make smarter choices makes it feel like these days happen less)
The only constant is CHANGE. (Jobs/friends/homes may come and go, but what you do with your health & wellness is always in your hands)
I’m so thankful for the opportunities I’ve had to learn and grow so that I can confidently take action on my health and wellness for the rest of my lifetime, and I would love to share that knowledge with you! -Renae
